Ron Mistretta

Ron was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was raised primarily on Long Island. His mother and her two sisters had their own band and performed in community gigs. As children, Ron, his brother, and three cousins picked up instruments to join in on musical family gatherings—however, being the youngest, Ron never had the chance to play lead, thus developing his harmonizing skills. (He finally got to play lead trumpet in his high school dance band.) A stint in Viet Nam had him performing in a soul brass band (Motown, blues, and rock) during basic training camp and doing USO shows.

Out of the army, Ron and his brother did local gigs on Long Island. He then took a break from music in order to catch up with his education at State University of N.Y. in New Paltz, where he met his wife and they subsequently moved to Boston.

Ron has a degree in education and teaches courses in multi-media production and is also a web site developer. He spends his free time furthering his saxophone skills and is a model train enthusiast.
